Greenhouse Gas emissions Audit
As a first step to drafting the Rye Sustainability Plan, the Sustainability Committee analyzed the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by human activity in the City of Rye. With the assistance of ICLEI (an international association of local governments that have made a commitment to the environment) and its proprietary software, the City began its efforts to quantify greenhouse gas emissions. The ultimate goal will be to reduce GHG emissions through government operations, provide tangible targets for reducing emissions, and inspire change throughout the community.
Details of the inventory's methodology, municipal and community results, and a forecast, can be found in the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Section of the Rye Sustainability Plan, beginning on page 21. The data will provide a baseline to compare future performance, enabling us to track progress in reducing emissions.
